Shed Blueprints – Shed Construction Made Easy

July 15th, 2009

Okay, as I’ve said before, my name is Adam, and I like to think of myself as a sort of handyman – but I’m not sure that’s how other people would describe me! I just finished working with shed blueprints to build that storage building for my backyard. Other projects I’ve worked on turned out just fine in the end … like the birdhouse I made when I was at fourth-grade summer camp … or that spice rack I made in high school woodshop. But I’m moving on to bigger and better things, although I’m sure my wife might disagree with the “better” part LOL! I created this site to help other people build sheds without the hassle of sorting through endless designs and technical speech, only to come up empty-handed and frustrated on the other side.

Now, I’m no technology whiz, so I’ve had some problems in the past with trying to use books and CDs and videos to help me finish a project. There was this one time about two years ago, when I was trying to build an outdoor fire pit. How hard could a brick fire pit filled with firewood be to make? Obviously harder than I thought! I had been looking through a DIY magazine that featured the pit, so I gathered all the materials from my local building store, then set about the task of actually building it. My wife wanted it next to the garden, so I sectioned off the ground for the size of the pit. Then I was stumped!

Since the magazine didn’t include an actual blueprint for building it, just step-by-step instructions with completed pictures along the way, I had to go find plans. I bought this book on outdoor structures, but had a hard time understanding the technical jargon. So I tried watching a home improvement video, but they made it look so professional, I knew I couldn’t make it look like theirs! I finally managed to put the stupid pit together, but was very frustrated in the end.

So when the wife asked for a shed, I readily agreed to the task. I knew I didn’t want to end up frustrated like last time, so I started asking around to see if anyone I knew had to build a shed before. This guy at the hardware store mentioned he’d used the plans for sheds at MyShedPlans.com, and said I should go check it out. I wasn’t so sure – I mean, a website to help me build an outdoor shed? But he was so persistent I checked it out and purchased the shed kit – and wow! The instructions were so simple to understand, I knew I could do this easy-peasy. The only drawback was the amount of material I had to wade through to find the perfect design, but it still was MUCH better than the DIY books and videos I’d been struggling with. Those shed blueprints helped me construct a beautiful shed we’re very proud of!

Shed Blueprints

If you want to build an outdoor storage building, it’s a good idea to start with shed blueprints, so you know what you’re working with from the start. The best laid plans always fail if you’re not prepared with the proper plans, materials and equipment.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you feel yourself becoming frustrated or overwhelmed with the shed; no one gets it right the first time – the world is based on trial-and-error. That’s why plans aren’t set in stone – or blueprints – until many people have perfected the technique. Websites can be a wealth of knowledge these days, and many credible sources use the Internet to help them with their building projects. If you’re a visual learner, books or videos might be a good way to learn about a certain project, whether it be working in the garden, working with wood, or building a storage shed. There is no one right or wrong way to get the job done; use the techniques that are easiest for you.

Shed blueprints are only the beginning though.  As you successfully complete more projects, you’ll start to become more confident in yourself, becoming a more confident worker. This surely will reflect in the quality of your work, and people will undoubtedly notice the strong skills used to construct a sound piece of furniture, or a beautiful garden, or a wooden mantle. Whatever medium you’re working in to create and finish a project, do it with the confidence of knowing a job well done!

First post on shed blueprints

Adam here, hi again!  Now I’m not terribly computer literate, so you’ll have to excuse the mess that I’ve made with this blog.  If only they made shed blueprints for blogs!  Anyway lets get right to it shall we?  I’m building this blog because I’ve found the best of all options when it comes to building sheds.  I spent a lot of time at your typical “Home Depot” “Lowes” or other stores taking a look at what they have to offer.

See I don’t like doing things “just good enough”.  If that were the case, I’d have just purchased an Arrow shed and have been done with it.  There are many reasons I didn’t do that though as you’ll soon find out.  I finally settled on some shed blueprints.  Not only did I build some for myself, but I helped build even better ones for my friends.

You might wonder why someone would even want to build your shed with shed blueprints.  The blueprints I used weren’t just any old blueprints.  There was MUCH more to them as you’ll soon find out.  There is a certain flexibility in building a shed in this manner.  With the thousands of plans available, I was able to choose just the right shed design, and was able to build it how I saw fit.

So with that, hopefully I get this whole “blog thing” right, and you’ll be seeing more posts from me about how it all went, and how to get some shed blueprints of your own for FREE.
